3,2,1...

3 days shy of a year apart... my very own Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are now 2 and 1.

They get into their very own set of trouble. Cadan getting in the freezer to help himself to some ice cream.

Or climbing down the heating vent to retrieve the toys he just threw down there.

Kai gets into his fair share of trouble...only his sort of trouble scares me enough to make a mad dash up the stairs as he somehow figured out how to get around the barricade, or stopping him from sticking the keys in the outlet. Don't worry, I didn't stop to take a picture of those near-death experiences.

But despite these harrowing moments, there are the sweet faces that make me smile and forget why my heart is racing or my legs cramping from the marathon sprints I make to keep these two safe.

We had a great birthday bash full of balloons, friends, family and plenty of mayhem.

Grandpa and Baba and Grandma and Pap "P" and Nana and Papi... all came to make it a really special time for both us and the boys!!! It really meant a lot to us to have our family celebrate with us the family we have begun together! Last year I was coming home from the hospital with Kai on Cadan's first birthday... I told Cadan... "This year I am giving you a brother on your birthday... don't expect this EVERY year!!!" This year we are celebrating them both together!

Well, the sun finally came out the other day and we all rushed outside to soak up any little rays of sunshine we could before the clouds could come back.

Kai was a little slow to warm up...

But Cadan seemed like frolicking in the sun was in his blood!

Even the dogs seemed to be soaking up some extra vitamin D...

Just when Kai started to explore... my camera battery died. Sigh. I guess all good things come to an end. Oh Spring, we are so desperate for you to get here so we can enjoy being outside again!!!

Once we got a taste of being outdoors the cloudy, cold, damp weather could not keep these boys from the sandbox they got for their birthday! Kai wasn't really sure he liked the texture of the sand, but he was the one that threw the biggest fit about having to go inside that day!!

Is this year flying by for anyone else? We packed and moved and unpacked and then before we knew it, Dave was leaving for Israel...and in the blink of an eye, mid-March comes rolling by! Life gets so busy and it is easy to forget to take some time and love on those around us! Thank you to those who have been lovin' on us during this busy season of our lives. It hasn't gone unnoticed.

All my love,

Becca

Doggone days of... Winter??

I dedicate this post to Amanda Scott...who may actually love our dogs more than we do and might be the only one interested in these pictures anyway... and to my sister Kristina, whom I promised to take pictures of the horses for.

Dog heaven. That is what people have been saying. Yep, our dogs have gone to dog heaven!!! At least they think they have! They love it here at our new house... a place they have room to roam and romp in the snow.

See for yourself.

And here is some more romping... yep... died and gone to heaven!

While I am on the animal topic...did I mention we live next to a horse farm? Hmmm... a definate highlight for the kids... but since I can't manage to take pictures of the horses and the kids...while making sure Cadan doesn't shove his hand down one of the horses throats... I can only give you horse pictures...that is until I grow a third arm...

And for those of you, who could care less about our animals or those we live next to... I did manage to post a few pics of Cadan and Dave...you can see how hard it was snowing if you look closely.

Kai prefered to wait inside and help make a fire to warm up by.

I heard somewhere that last weekend it was snowing in 49 states. So, put up your feet and break out the hot cocoa...

December has come and gone

Our new house!!!

Yes, that's what I said...during the Christmas season we were crazy enough to buy a house. Packing and unpacking and managing to make dinner in between the chaotic moments..it all seems a blur but in the last month we have been to Chicago, Atlanta and Charlotte... Kai had tubes put in his ears and we managed to move into our new house!! Hooray!

The inside of the house is still in the unpack mode so unless you drop by for a visit you will have to just wait for a little while for those pictures to come.

And just to catch up I think I will do the month of December in pictures...

Normal life in the Hightower household:

Kai got a hold of Cadan's spinach lasagna and was loving it!

He also got a hold of a bag of pretzels...(would someone just feed me already?)

Bathtime with the cousins:

We got to spend sometime with my sister-in-law Rachel and her two little ones when she came to visit in December. The cousins had a royal ball playing together! We felt adventurous one night and went to the Christmas parade! It was only in the 20's that night!Brrrrrrrrrr!! Is this still Tennessee?

We thought we would decorate Christmas cookies while the babies were sleeping.... and wouldn't you know after we talked it up all day to the kids... and right when they were at the peak of excitement... the power went out... after a long wait and crabbiness going on as the patient waiting turned sour on us... we decided to camp out in front of the storm door for some good lighting and decorate with as many sprinkles as a cookie could handle... see for yourself!!

There was some cousin fun to be had!!

And some Christmas spirit to prep for!!

Ahh, good times!!

We were blessed to be able to visit a good number of our family this season and after all is said and done... I didn't take any pictures. Hmmm. Sound familiar? This tends to be a trend of mine... I think I just get to having too much fun to remember to digitally capture the moments I want to remember the most... Thankfully we have family who will send us pics they took... which is why I can show you some precious moments of our Chicago trip!!

Now to unpack! I'll get working on that so all of you still interested can see some pictures of the inside of the house!!!
