December has come and gone

Our new house!!!

Yes, that's what I said...during the Christmas season we were crazy enough to buy a house. Packing and unpacking and managing to make dinner in between the chaotic moments..it all seems a blur but in the last month we have been to Chicago, Atlanta and Charlotte... Kai had tubes put in his ears and we managed to move into our new house!! Hooray!

The inside of the house is still in the unpack mode so unless you drop by for a visit you will have to just wait for a little while for those pictures to come.

And just to catch up I think I will do the month of December in pictures...

Normal life in the Hightower household:

Kai got a hold of Cadan's spinach lasagna and was loving it!

He also got a hold of a bag of pretzels...(would someone just feed me already?)

Bathtime with the cousins:

We got to spend sometime with my sister-in-law Rachel and her two little ones when she came to visit in December. The cousins had a royal ball playing together! We felt adventurous one night and went to the Christmas parade! It was only in the 20's that night!Brrrrrrrrrr!! Is this still Tennessee?

We thought we would decorate Christmas cookies while the babies were sleeping.... and wouldn't you know after we talked it up all day to the kids... and right when they were at the peak of excitement... the power went out... after a long wait and crabbiness going on as the patient waiting turned sour on us... we decided to camp out in front of the storm door for some good lighting and decorate with as many sprinkles as a cookie could handle... see for yourself!!

There was some cousin fun to be had!!

And some Christmas spirit to prep for!!

Ahh, good times!!

We were blessed to be able to visit a good number of our family this season and after all is said and done... I didn't take any pictures. Hmmm. Sound familiar? This tends to be a trend of mine... I think I just get to having too much fun to remember to digitally capture the moments I want to remember the most... Thankfully we have family who will send us pics they took... which is why I can show you some precious moments of our Chicago trip!!

Now to unpack! I'll get working on that so all of you still interested can see some pictures of the inside of the house!!!

Beck

a sweet friendship

Aw man... the kids have been sick. Poor little ones! What started out as a runny nose turned into a cough and wouldn't you know that turned into a sinus infection for Kai and both kids had eye infections in both eyes. Not to mention both kids are teething. Cadan now has all four of his incisiors and Kai is working on two teeth to add to the two he is already sporting. All of that to say, whew, I could use a day where my shirt has not been snotted on repeatedly through the day. I got several such days when my dear friend Bethany came to visit! The boys had little crushes on her! It was so cute!

Cadan could articulate it better than Kai...and was super shy first thing in the morning and then as soon as Bethany would leave the room, he would shout at the top of his lungs "BEBE!!"... then he would giggle and giggle when she popped her head into the room.

Kai was also enamored and would give her unprecident snuggles ... and he would smile from ear to ear whenever he saw Bethany!

She shot some really cute pics of the boys when we went to the Henpeck Market! The evening just seemed like the quintessential fall day.

Often being the one behind the camera, I wonder sometimes if the kids will grow up and wonder why mom isn't in many of the pictures! So I was thankful for these precious shots...

So thanks friend! You were just what I needed to make it through that rough spell!

PS-

After trying three times now to post pictures of our fabulous evening at the Ring Farm... and loosing all three posts, I have decided to retire that idea. Trust me when I say, there is a great picture of Dave and Joe sporting some head lamps for the corn maze adventure we took that night. Oh, and we picked the cutest little pumpkins! Okay, okay, I'll try one more time... for your viewing pleasure... check back again soon!

FALL--LA-LA-LA-LA

The things you take pictures of and the things you don't. Things I forgot to take pictures of this week: Dave's surprise birthday party that I have been planning for a month... hope those memories last a lifetime cuz their ain't no documentation of that. (I take that back! Thanks Katrina for snapping some shots to document the occassion!!) Other things I did not take pictures of: my kids meeting their cousins for the first time and none of my brother and his wife whom I haven't seen in years. Pictures I did take... well, of course, pictures of the park. You know because such a time should be documented.

We were having so much fun...

We even let Kai crawl around in the mulch...

All the boys were bonding...

It was all fun and games until a lady shrieked " A mouse just crawled on my shoulder" and on closer expection, "these benches are infested with mice!" ...and sure enough a mere five minutes later we saw a little brown field mouse scurrying across the wooden playground. Hmmm, looks like a good time to go investigate the trains!

And that we did.

And then, as we were leaving we caught the sun just right.

A whole Disney moment happened... all the woodland creatures came out to play, and frolic in the sun. We even saw a hedgehog at one point.

Strange, but true.
