The dreadful wait

The wait can be almost unbearable. I am due in 12 days... 12 long days... which at the moment seems like an eternity.

In the meantime, Cadan is into everything... maybe having a brother will keep him occupied and out of trouble.

He is climbing on everything!

Meanwhile we have been lost in project land...painting, sorting, reorganizing... you know.

Anyway, with all of this work we are getting in some rest.

Well, back to nesting... hopefully we will have a little baby bunting to share on our next post.

Snow Days

We had a great Christmas surprise when the heavens opened and the rain turned to big white fluffy flakes of snow (despite the weathermans predictions). The temperture was still in the 40's but the snow decided to stick anyway...and we had a white winterwonderland to wake up to in the morning. The temperture did drop through the night and I was hopeful Dave would be snowed in but I guess when you are an adult with a real job, the workplace doesn't just close down like the school systems do... so much for snow days in corporate America... (although not a bad idea)!

This is early this morning... so early in fact I caught the sunrise... I don't remember actually seeing a sunrise before my motherhood years... in fact even when I worked as a nurse it was usually still dark in the mornings when I got to work... and during the winter it was dark when I would go home... talk about sad... not seeing the sunlight for days on end... okay enough rambling and on to the real reason ya'll check the blog anyway... the PICTURES.

Not too much later I bundled Cadan and let him experience his first taste of snow.

He wasn't so sure what to think...

It didn't take but a minute before he warmed up to the idea.

A neighborhood girl came over to enjoy the snow with Cadan...

I sat him in the snow while I was catching up with the little girl's mom and next thing I know he had layed down and was eating snow off of his mittens.

This is Cadan's version of a snow angel... he's a natural. Who knew his mom grew up in the jungles of South America and his dad grew up at the beach? I guess there are some snow genes in their somewhere.

Even the dogs were frolicing in the snow.

What an eventful day! So from our short lived time in winterland to you...

Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Discoveries

Cadan is of age to be quick enough and quiet enough to be mischievous...thus the need to baby proof. He loves crawling in the cabinets if he can make room, if not he may just decide to rearrange whatever may be blocking his path. So Dave has been working on installing our safety locks... Cadan thought he would help.

Whew, exhausting work...

Well, after all of that babyproofing... let's put up a bunch of Christmas decorations. That should keep us busy now that the cupboards are on lock down.

He is not allowed to touch the manger scene under the tree but has sat for hours... okay, slight exaggeration, he has sat for a good minute or two anyway, staring at the manger scene...and just as I pulled out the camera he decided he couldn't stand it a minute longer and reached out to touch baby Jesus.

He has also been known to take an ornament or two as a teething toy. His favorite is the toy soldier. He stares at it a while...
And then sticks it straight in his mouth...

Okay, that was fun...for a moment..

Now on to the fake candy canes

You know, I thought these would taste better...

Catching our reflection in the Christmas ball,

Well, the Christmas discoveries have just begun... just wait until he discovers the eggnog and Christmas cookies.

My Random thoughts

Well, I have been tagged... as you can see. So, for those interested, here are my 7 random and/or weird facts about me (Becca). Dave is at work, so he will have to answer for himself.

1. When Dave and I were seriously dating we had a "talk" about how I love PJ's and sweat pants... and if he expected me to dress in cute clothes and look put together all the time-then I was the wrong girl for him... I think he laughed and said he already knew that about me and has since then even contributed to my sweatpant/PJ collection... along those same lines, my roommate in college (insert shout out to Bethany) taught me a great studying trick... wake up early... take a shower, do your hair and makeup... then put back on some PJ's (preferably not the ones you slept in)... and sit down to study... with a hot cup of java. The PJ's prevent you from getting too distracted and going out to play instead of studying and the shower really wakes you up and makes you feel ready to get serious about studying... I may have passed nursing school with that tip alone... did I mention I really like PJ's?

2. I bake when I am pregnant... bring out the homeade bread, rolls, sweets, cakes...homemade pumpkin puree, soups, cheesecake... hmmm, I think I am getting hungry.

3. I possess the hidden talent of putting my leg over my head...even almost 7 months pregnant... and yes I just tried to be sure... and no I will not post a picture of that...

4. I am not crafty... I may actually break out in a cold sweat if someone asks me to help with a craft...I cannot cut with scissors and I hate wrapping presents because that requires paper, scissors and tape... if you have gotten a present from me, it may very well have been wrapped by my good friend Katrina who has been gifted with the crafty creativity I lack and sometimes takes pity on me and may occasionally wrap gifts from me... by the way Katrina, what are you doing the week before Christmas? Haha. Ever wonder why God gives you good friends that have the talents you lack... maybe for some healthy balance in your life? Just a thought.

5.I recently made a random connection... this story is confusing so hang in there... I met a girl(Leah) in a church bible study... she is pregnant and due the same week I am... we have hung out a couple of times... the last time we hung out... I mentioned going to Bible School in Sweden... she had a friend from college (Kimmie) that went to Bible School in Sweden... I was Kimmie's RA... Kimmie lives in Nashville... she married a guy named Joel Schidler... I know Joel from Sweden as well but he was never in Sweden when Kimmie was... they met here in Tennessee and got married.... furthermore... Joel knows Travis and his wife... who have moved here from Washington state... Travis and I were RA's at the same school above mentioned... and live about 5 miles from where we live in Spring Hill. Last night we all got together for a mini random reunion.... by the way... all of the 4 women are pregnant and due in the Spring...

6. I have always secretly wanted red hair.

7. I always try and keep a glass of water by my bed at night... in case I get thirsty... but the reality is that I rarely ever wake up to take a sip of water... but on that occasion I tend to think how glad I am I bothered to put that glass of water by my bed.

I don't think I am following 7 blogs that haven't been tagged but here are two that haven't been tagged yet.

Cadan's Latest

This has been hours of fun for Cadan. He figured it out by himself and has been entertained ever since... is this a boy thing or what?

PS- Thanks Katrina for letting us borrow the toys for the trip! It has been a godsend- I think we may be onto something...

Cadan looking so big

It seems that one day you wake up and your baby looks bigger and you wonder how it happened so fast. I can't believe how much he has grown this last month...

I finally got a picture of his two teeth... look closely on the bottom gum for their debut...

I was getting Cadan up from his nap and was surprised to find him standing up holding onto his mobile... I think it is time to lower his bed again...

A couple of weeks ago Cadan started using his sippy cup...

Here he is reading books before bed...

It was only three weeks ago we went to this local historic site, he looks so much smaller to me...

I love the slippers Cadan is wearing...not that he had much of a choice. What cute boys!!

Below is a picture of site of the Second Battle of Franklin, TN, fought 144 years ago, on Nov. 3oth:

Union forces crippled the Confederates here; it's been called "Pickett's charge of the West", being that this area was the West back then. An utter disaster for the Confederate army.

Accounts are conflicting, but the story goes that on the night of Nov. 29th, General Schofield (Union) marched his men past the sleeping Confederates in Spring Hill, TN, south of Franklin. Supposedly, Schofield and his men marched within 100 yds. of the Confederate army.
